Why You Shouldn't Skip Cardio

"Cardio kills your gains" -- I'm sure most of us have heard this being perpetuated before. However, I would argue that it does not and is something every lifter should incorporate into their routine.

The myth of "Cardio kills your gains" is most likely perpetuated by the additional calories burned during prolonged cardiovascular activity. As a result, to maintain the same bodyweight, you would need to consume more calories to offset the additional calories being burned.

Depending on your stature, running for a couple of hours a week would lead you to burn a couple hundred calories. For simplicity sake, lets say you run for 2 hours each week and burn roughly 1400 calories. This equates to burning an extra 200 calories per day. To offset that, you would quite literally need to eat an additional 2 tablespoons of peanut butter a day.

Cardiovascular activity is critical for overall health and should not be neglected for the sake of muscular hypertrophy (especially when the core issue can be offset so easily). So please, make sure to get your steps in!
